Land of Memory: A Cosmic Journey in Interior Design

Kewei Wang's Award-Winning Design Merges Art, Technology, and Cosmic Aesthetics

The design, themed "Star Search," is a testament to the principle of "less is more." It focuses on the quality and spiritual needs of the clients, providing them with an opportunity to look at the stars, touch the sky, and feel the vastness of the universe. The uniqueness of this design lies in its ability to create a sense of awe and wonder, making the clients feel small yet connected to the cosmos.

Land of Memory is brought to life through innovative design realization technology. The waterfall pattern perforated aluminum plate visualization is presented like a river of stars pouring down, forming an information flow from the surface of the revolving staircase. The LED lights on the two-color translucent stone countertop with perforated aluminum panels create a scene of thousands of stars, adding to the cosmic theme of the design.

One of the key features of the design is the meteorite "crashing into" the wall with the wall light source, becoming a unique landscape in the negotiation area. The wall meteorite installation art, created by sculptor Hodges, injects a touch of warmth into the cold stone, adding to the interstellar fantasy theme of the design.

The design process was not without its challenges. The art installation in the corner of the sandbox area, a "blue meteorite" placed in a water feature, had to speak to the building and the viewer through the angles of the meteorite. This required careful planning and execution to ensure that the installation would not only fit into the overall design but also enhance it.

The Land of Memory project started in December 2020 in Henan, Luoyang, and was completed in July 2010. It was exhibited in Henan, Luoyang in October 2010. The design was awarded Silver in A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2022, a testament to its outstanding expertise and innovation.
